September 28 – October 22
Charleston Performing Arts Center
Inspired by Federico Fellini’s Nights of Cabiria, Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score by Cy Coleman, sparkling lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and a hilarious book by Neil Simon, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist. Iconic musical numbers include: “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This,” “Rich Man’s Frug,” and “Rhythm of Life”.
From October 7 – 31, 11 am to 7 pm
Bethel United Methodist Church, 1853 Maybank Highway
Bethany UMC Pumpkin Patch
“A great place for a family outing, because in addition to all size pumpkins, gourds, and other products, the Pumpkin Patch has great decorations for the children. Every year there are hundreds of squeals and grins as families and children scramble through the acre of goodies. It’s a great place for family photographs.
Priced by size, the pumpkins generate funds for the mission work of the church.”
